I love making broad, overly generalized and mildly arrogant statements. Are Peruvians the most interesting people in the world? Possibly. But even I’m not sold on my own claims. Peruvians are the most interesting I’ve personally encountered though. And it’s not the brightly colored traditional clothing, leather sandals, bizarre white stove-top hats or mysteriously filled fabric-bags slung over their shoulders that is most intriguing. One glance upon the weathered and uniquely beautiful faces of these ancient Andean peoples is mesmerizing. Their painfully-worn complexions tell stories of hard work in a harsh climate while their vibrant expressions attest to their happiness and somewhat simpler (but not easier) way of life. I’d love to slug down some chicha with this particular Cusquena.
